Ride Or Die contains twelve soulful and powerful tracks that showcase Allman's maturity as a songwriter.
>The Bad Plus
- It's Hard LP (Masterworks)
Recently released on CD – now available on vinyl. The Bad Plus’s eleventh studio recording sees the leaderless trio of bassist Reid Anderson, pianist Ethan Iverson, and drummer David King returning to the distinctive deconstruction of pop forms that first drew them international attention almost two decades ago. Recorded this past April at NYC’s Brooklyn Recording with longtime engineer Pete Rende (Joshua Redman, Bill McHenry),
It’s Hard spans both era and inspiration as The Bad Plus offer new perspectives on this collection of covers (Crowded House, Kraftwerk, Prince, Johnny Cash, Cindi Lauper, Peter Gabriel, Barry Manilow, Maroon 5, etc.).
>The Beatles
– Live At Hollywood Bowl LP (Capitol)
Recently released on CD – now available on vinyl.
Live At The Hollywood Bowl is a new album that captures the joyous exuberance of The Beatle’s three sold-out concerts at Los Angeles Hollywood Bowl in 1964 and 1965, and is a companion to The Beatles: Eight Days A Week - The Touring Years, Ron Howard's authorized and highly-anticipated documentary feature film about the band's early career.
>Broken Social Scene
– Feel Good Lost [Reissue/2001] LP (Arts & Crafts)
Vinyl reissue of the debut album by Broken Social Scene. Remastered for the 15th anniversary. The band’s Brendan Canning said of the album: “A lot of this record was made during the hours of midnight and seven AM which really informs the quietness of

On March 15, 2007, Eric Clapton's world tour stopped at San Diego's iPayOne Center (originally the San Diego Sports Arena and now the Valley View Casino Center). The band lineup for the tour consisted of Derek Trucks and Doyle Bramhall II on guitars, Chris Stainton and Tim Carmon on keyboards, Willie Weeks on bass, Steve Jordan on drums, and backing vocalists Michelle John and Sharon White. During the set, Clapton's long-time musical inspiration, JJ Cale, sat in for five songs, including three from their Grammy- winning 2006 album
The Road To Escondido.
>Guy Clarke
– Old No. 1 [Reissue/1975] LP (4 Men With Beards)
Guy Clark's debut from 1975 is one of the all-time classic country singer/songwriter records. By the time of its release the Texas native had been shopping his tunes in Nashville for a few years and the songs from
Old No. 1 were already well aged and often covered. Regardless, though Clark considers himself more a songwriter than a recording artist, nobody holds a candle to these performances. From the rollicking Texas swing of opener “Rita Ballou” to the finger picked heartbreak of closer “Let Him Roll” there is not a stinker to be found. Features help from Emmylou Harris, Rodney Crowell and a young Steve Earle.
>Cradle Of Filth
– From The Cradle To Enslave [1999] 12” (Sin UK)
Blood red color vinyl edition the 1999 7-track mini-album by English extreme metal band.

Crowded House – Afterglow [Reissue/1999] LP+MP3 (Capitol)

>The Dean Ween Group
– The Deaner Album 2xLP (ATO)
Recently released on CD – now available on vinyl.
The Deaner Album is the debut album from The Dean Ween Group. On it, guitarist Mickey “Dean Ween” Melchiondo brings his love of classic guitar rock to 14 original compositions (including four instrumentals) that echo everything from classic rock to cracked country to the quirky mix of soul, funk, metal and punk that defined Ween. “My tastes are very mainstream; I love Jimi Hendrix and Santana and Zeppelin, but my ears are always open,” The Deaner says. “P-Funk, they’re right up there with the Beatles. That’s what my influences were – that and punk rock – and I wanted all that in this album.” After Ween stopped, I put my guitar down for almost a year,” he continues. “I’ll never do that again. I’m so into practicing and writing and being good at my craft right now. I’m back in playoff shape. I write and play and record all day, every day, and I’m going to keep it there for the rest of my life.”
>Death
– The Sound Of Perseverance [Reissue/1998] 2xLP (Relapse)
Vinyl reissue of the metal band’s final album expanded with over an hour of previously unreleased material. Limited gold color vinyl pressing also available.

>Nina Diaz

>Disaster Strikes
– In The Age Of Corporate Personhood LP (Alternative Tentacles)
Produced by underground legend Richard Marr,
Disaster Strikes delivers Boston hardcore punk with impactful lyrics about social justice and workers’ rights. These ten blistering tracks encapsulate the raw energy and intensity of the band’s live sets.
>Kyle Dixon & Michael Stein
– Stranger Things: Volume Two 2xLP (Lakeshore)
Recently released on CD – now available on vinyl. “A journey through the work of groups like Goblin, who scored much of horror maestro Dario Argento’s work, and Tangerine Dream, who provided the score for a number of films, including
Sorcerer, Firestarter, and The Keep” – Consequence Of Sound. [Limited clear vinyl pressing also available.]
>Dr. John
– Dr. John’s Gumbo [Reissue/1972] LP (Acoustic Sounds)
200gm vinyl reissue of the New Orleans singer/pianist’s fifth album.

>Shana Falana
– Here Comes The Wave LP (Team Love)
“Dark pop,” Shana Falana calls it, when pressed for a genre. On
Here Comes The Wave, the veteran of the Brooklyn and San Francisco undergrounds deals in paradoxes and oppositions: drones stormy and serene, layers of warmth streaked with wildness and troubled riffs, ethereal forces at war and at play.
>Johnny Farmer
– Wrong Doers [Reissue/1998] LP (Fat Possum)
This Delta resident thinks of himself as a bulldozer driver rather than a blues singer and slide guitarist.

>Flyying Colors
– Mindfullness LP (Shellshock)
“Australia’s Flyying Colours sit squarely in the shoegaze revival (ok, ‘neugaze) of the last ten years. That’s not to say they’re derivative at all. Like their many neugaze cohorts and tour mates (pinkshinyultrablast), they’re excellent songwriters, and also versatile, commonly forging new sounds from the many incarnations of the shoegaze genre since its mid-eighties birth. For instance, ‘It’s Tomorrow Now,’ the first single from their debut full length
Mindfullness, Flyying Colours set the swoon-worthy vocal harmonies of members Brodie J Brümmer and Gemma O’Connor atop non-standard tuned riffs and soloed squalls of pedal effects.” – Ravelin
>Gas
– Box 10xLP+4xCD (Kompakt)
Finally! A luxurious 10xLP+4xCD box set with each album presented as a triple LP pressing (as opposed to the original double LP editions). Wolfgang Voigt collects 80 percent of his legendary (and somewhat mythical due to the scarcity of the records) Gas project in this beautifully crafted, deluxe box set featuring the near-perfect albums
Zauberberg (1997), Königsforst (1998), Pop (2000) and the extended player Oktember (1999). For the uninitiated, Gas takes the techniques of the echo-laden Chain Reaction techno of Berlin's famed Hard Wax shop wall and moves it from the urbanite city dwelling to the deepest recesses of the forest. A dense, hypnotic blend of endless classical music-sourced loops and 4/4 beats create a foggy, dreamlike, dense and immersive soundscape. Absolutely essential.
>In Flames
– Battles 2xLP (Eleven Seven Music)
Recently released on CD – now available on vinyl.
Battles is the twelfth album from Swedish metal band In Flames. Recorded in Los Angeles, the 15-track album sees the band taking a new approach while staying true to their vision and encompassing their unique, signature sound. In Flames brought in Grammy-nominated producer Howard Benson (Papa Roach, My Chemical Romance, The Used) as a collaborator. “I think being in California really affected this album in the sense that we had a studio in the house that we were staying at and the vibe was really relaxed which lent itself to productivity,” says vocalist Anders Fridén. “It really helped having a producer who could make us focus on what we needed to accomplish and keep us on track,” he adds. “This was a very new approach for us because we’ve never let anyone else in the way we did with Howard,” says guitarist Björn Gelotte. “[2014’s] Siren Charms had a very dark vibe to it,” he contines. “We recorded it at a cold, damp and dark time during the year in Berlin so it gave it a certain melancholy to the record. Now recording in L.A. with the sunshine it’s a different energy.”
>Junk Son
– Beginning Ending Pretending LP (PIAS America)
Recently released on CD – now available on vinyl. Late-night atmospheric electronic soul from the South London producer.

>Lady Wray
– Queen Alone (Instrumentals) LP (Big Crown)
Lady Wray's latest LP,
Queen Alone, showcased Wray's inarguable vocal talent. However, behind that talent is a musical force deserving of its own recognition. And that's where the spotlight shines on Queen Alone Instrumentals. The record was written and recorded in 10 days at the legendary Diamond Mine Studios, in Queens NY with Leon Michels and Thomas Brenneck handling production for the sessions. Michels and Brenneck are both multi-instrumentalists. Leon Michels contributes his talents on keys, guitar, sax, flute as well as drums and percussion throughout the project. Brenneck handles guitars and bass as well as percussion.
>Tony Lucca
– Canyon Songs [2006] LP (Rock Ridge Music)
First time available on vinyl and celebrating the 10-year anniversary of what many fans and critics concede could be the crown jewel of Lucca’s catalog, the emotive
Canyon Songs, a touching 10-track tip of the cap to the legendary Laurel Canyon sound immortalized by master musicians including Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, The Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, Joni Mitchell and Jackson Browne.
>M83
– Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming [Reissue/2011] 2xLP (Mute)
Clear vinyl repress of M83’s epic sixth album.

>Moby & The Void Pacific Choir
– These Systems Are Failing LP (Mute)
Recently released on CD – now available on vinyl. As with much of Moby's output during his nearly three-decade long career, it's not surprising that a spiritual and political questioning underpins
These Systems Are Failing. “That quality of atmospheric sadness I've done so much of before isn't here -- there's nothing quiet or ambient,” he notes. “Sonically, this record isn't subtle: it's big & loud, with huge kick drums & massive choral choruses.”
>Moderat
– Eating Hooks 10”/12” (Mute)
One is a 10” that contains a live version of "Eating Hooks" (the original featured on Moderat's third album,
III) on one side and an etching by Monkeytown affiliate Siriusmo on the other. The second single is a 12” that contains two new versions of "Eating Hooks"—a Night Drps remix and a Solomun edit of Siriusmo's remix.
>Old 97s
– Wreck Your Life [1995] LP+MP3 (Bloodshot)
First time on wax as a standalone release.
Wreck Your Life documents a band hitting its stride, the confidence growing as quickly as the crowds, and it holds up beautifully. True punk mettle fearlessly cross-bred with deep country soul.
>Pavo Pavo
– Young Narrator In The Breakers LP+MP3 (Bella Union)
Released last week on CD – now available on vinyl. “Last year Brooklyn quintet and Dave Longstreth associates Pavo Pavo, the band formerly known as Plume Giant, impressed us with their single ‘Ran Ran Run.’ The first advance track from their new album
Young Narrator In The Breakers is even better. ‘Wiserway’ is a psychedelically inclined chamber-pop duet that gorgeously floats through the space between Grizzly Bear and Sparklehorse.” – Stereogum
>Phish
– Big Boat 2xLP (Jemp)
Recently released on CD – now available on vinyl. Phish’s 13
th album Big Boat was produced by Bob Ezrin (Pink Floyd, Alice Cooper, Kiss), making this the producer's second collaboration with Phish following 2014's Fuego, and was recorded between Nashville, New York, and their home state of Vermont. Big Boat takes it's title from the Jon Fishman-penned “Friends” and the line “We're on a big boat, like the ones our forefathers sailed.” “Big Boat features frequent references to religion and darkness that evoke a sense of feeling overwhelmed and lost; along the way, allusions to water suggest spiritual searching and emotional rebirth. ‘Breath And Burning,’ with its soulful horns and breezy Latin vibe, combats looming end times with a celebration of life: ‘And what does it matter that the end's in sight / We're not going gently, we're gonna rage with Page at the dying of the light.’ In the stirring gospel blues ‘Tide Turns,’ Anastasio offers relief and community to those in need of salvation from loneliness or depression: ‘When the wolf is at your door, and the mirror holds your nightmare ... Together we can make it through, we've got time.’ ‘More’ is another affirming anthem for those stuck in a ‘world gone mad,’ as it crests with the sing-along chant, ‘There's gotta be something more than this’” – NPR
>Lou Reed
– The RCA & Arista Vinyl Collection Vol. 1 6xLP (Sony Legacy)
150gm vinyl editions of
Transformer (1972), Berlin (1973), Rock n Roll Animal (1974), Coney Island Baby (1975), Street Hassle (1978) and The Blue Mask (1982).
>Dee Snider
– We Are The Ones LP (Twisted Sister/Red River Entertainment)
Recently released on CD – now available on vinyl.
We Are The Ones crackles with modern energy, from the call-to-arms manifesto of “Rule The World,” to the anthemic bonding of “So What” to the intensely synth driven “Close To You,” to the thematically soaring “Superhero.” Another significant highlight of the album is a newly re-recorded acoustic version of “We're Not Gonna Take It” which has also been tapped as the official anthem for The Recording Academy's advocacy efforts, including the “Fair Play Fair Pay” Act.
>Vince Staples
– Prima Donna 10” (Def Jam)
“Pushing his versatility, ear for production, and lyricism in new directions, Vince Staples' hot streak continues.” [8.0] – Pitchfork

>Supersilent
– 13 2xLP (Smalltown Supersound)
Currently a trio featuring Helge Sten, Arve Henriksen and Ståle Storløkken, Supersilent ’s album number 13 marks a turning point in the group’s two-decade career. Atavistic, abstract and alien,
13 documents a tangle of ribboning, in-the-moment thought processes in oscillation between atonal, asymmetric rhythms and discord and much lusher, spacious flights of fancy, with each player alternately operating at full, noisily expressive wingspan, and also at their most hunched, grubbing.
>Syd Arthur
– Apricity LP (Harvest)
Recently released on CD – now available on vinyl. Formed in Canterbury in 2003, Syd Arthur is comprised of brothers Liam (lead vocals and guitar), Joel (bass) and Josh (drums) Magill, and violin player Raven Bush. The name of the band is a nod to Syd Barrett and Arthur Lee. Formed out of the forest party rave scene in their home county, and with a hard-won DIY self-sufficiency, Syd Arthur developed a sound and approach miles beyond their foursquare indie peers. Here was swirling rock with psychedelic textures, guitar-based trance with a funk groove. A band adaptive enough, bold enough, to tour with White Denim and The Strokes. Far from being young crate-diggers spun from a “Canterbury scene” wormhole, 2016 finds Syd Arthur lauded as ahead-of-the-curve trailblazers, pop-psych adventurers who count as peers Tame Impala, Temples and Toy. Their fourth album,
Apricity, is a freshly invigorated take on the psych-pop revolution they helped usher in.
>Sylvan Esso
– Radio b/w Kick Jump Twist 12” (Loma Vista)
First single in advance of the band’s 2017 album. “Sylvan Esso have been dancing their way to the top since the 2014 debut of their acclaimed self-titled album, bolstered by the release of a few bonus tracks last year. The electropop dream team, comprised of singer Amelia Meath and producer Nick Sanborn, have made their highly anticipated return with a concerned new single, ‘Radio.’” -- Paste

>Touché Amoré
– Stage Four LP+MP3 (Epitaph)
Deluxe edition 180gm vinyl LP pressing, includes download card and 36 page harcover LP sized book with expanded artwork. “Touche Amore set the standard for modern melodic hardcore. Their new album
Stage Four combines furious energy with earnestness, curiosity, and introspection.” – Chicago Reader
>
TOY – Clear Shot LP+MP3 (PIAS America)
Recently released on CD – now available on vinyl. “Altered consciousness, dreamy detachment and a healthy streak of escapism have long been hallmarks of psychedelic music. TOY is well aware of this — but at the same time, the British band is savvy enough to know just how far a pop song can be pushed, pulled and stretched. Snatches of everyone from Can to Stereolab to MGMT can be heard in
Clear Shot's chugging-yet-supple anthems to ecstasy. ‘Dream Orchestrator’ is the catchiest of the lot; propelled by a throbbing beat and effervescent synths, it's by far the danciest track on the album, not to mention the most forward-gazing. The chorus alone could be bottled and sold as an antidepressant, fueled as it is by easygoing hooks, squalls of breathless noise and upward-spiraling rapture. Rather than relying too heavily on the work of psychedelia's past masters, frontman Tom Dougall and crew have put a futuristic spin on hallucinatory pop — that is, if the future were something to be viewed with romance and wonder instead of today's all-too-pervasive doom.” – NPR
>UKG
– Super Tight [1994] LP (Get On Down)
First time on vinyl. UKG (Underground Kingz) is a Texas group consisting of rappers Pimp C and Bun B.

>Various Artists
– James Brown’s Funky People Part 1 [Reissue/1986] 2xLP (Get On Down)
“Some have made the claim that Get On Down may love James Brown just a little too much. To which the label replies, ‘it’s not possible to love James Brown too much.’ The label’s welcome obsession with Mr. Brown and the incredible line up of talent found on his People Record imprint continues with the reissue of
Funky People Part 1. Long out of print on vinyl, Funky People Part 1 features the top tier of artists from Brown’s People Records label, including The J.B.’s, Lyn Collins, Fred Wesley and Maceo Parker. Some of the James Brown organizations all-time best material is collected here, including The J.B.’s “Pass The Peas” and “Hot Pants Road”, Fred Wesley’s in your face politics through funk statement “Damn Right, I Am Somebody”, Lyn Collins smash hit “Think (About It)” and many more.”
>Venom Prison
– Animus LP (Prosthetic)
Recently released on CD – now available on vinyl.
Animus is the debut album from the South Wales death metal filth merchants. Recorded by Tom Dring at Vagrant Recordings (Dragged Into Sunlight, Electric Wizard), Animus is 10 tracks of aural assaulting brutality. Led by frontwoman, L, Venom Prison tackles such subjects as social Darwinism, misogyny, rape culture and the rejection of God and religion.
>David Virelles
– Antenna 10” (ECM)
The music of Cuban-born, Brooklyn-based pianist David Virelles conjures a hallucinatory world in which ancient Afro-Cuban rhythms and ritual reverberate in the here and now.
Antenna is an undulating, throbbing, dizzying dream of sound.
>The Wedding Present
– Going Going 2xLP+DVD (Scopitones)
Recently released on CD – now available on vinyl. The ninth studio album from UK indie darlings The Wedding Present, tells the story of a road trip across the USA, revealed across a collection of twenty “linked” songs, each with an accompanying short film. Throughout this enchanting album, ambient soundscapes and orchestral pop arrangements jostle for position with layers of feedback-drenched guitars, pummeling drums and a truly massive bass sound as the band plays some of the heaviest material they have ever recorded. The films that accompany each track are a mesmerizing collection of moving photographs.

– Paul Weller [Reissue/1992] LP (Island)
Paul Weller – Wild Wood [Reissue/1993] LP (Island)

>Westpoint
– Westpoint LP (Triple B)
Entombed within the chrome coffin of Kingston Pennsylvania -- aggravated youth suffering from the stigmas of sex, boredom, death and creativity -- Westpoint was procreated. Birthed through a cavity in the fangs of suburban America in 2014, they have since grown into a garden of strange orange light and a saccharine slice of early adulthood.

>Daniel Woolhouse

Self-released late July on CD – now available on vinyl. “Maybe you've never heard of Lil Dicky. Maybe you have, and think he's just a funny guy who makes funny music. But the release of his debut album
Professional Rapper in late July of this year made both of those possibilities much less likely. Because the not-so-subtly named album came with an equally unequivocal reality: The dude's here, and he can spit. While Professional Rapper remains joke-heavy, the beats, the flow, and the featured talent—Fetty Wap, Rich Homie Quan, T-Pain, Snoop Dogg—are not the least bit laughable.” -- GQ
>Mannequin Pussy
– Romantic LP+MP3 (Tiny Engines)
Recently released on CD – now available on vinyl. “Punk rock is not terribly romantic, or at least not enough to get an on-air dedication from Delilah. That's not to say punk rock doesn't know, understand and screw up relationships — it's just that the gooey underbelly of love and lust is mostly left to belters and crooners. Opening Mannequin Pussy's second album,
Romantic, guitarist Marisa Dabice screams, ‘I am not ashamed to be lonely, but I'm afraid to feel it so deeply,’ a confession that burns into a jangly, frenzied mess of feedback. Mannequin Pussy may not heal a broken heart quite (or at all) like Celine Dion, but the band sure knows — and sounds like — the hell that is heartbreak.” – NPR

>Nico Muhly/Teitur Lassen
– Confessions LP (Nonesuch)
Recently released on CD – now available on vinyl. New collaboration between acclaimed American composer Nico Muhly and the Faroese singer/songwriter Teitur. The two musicians began work on the project when Muhly was composer-in-residence at Muziekgebouw Eindhoven in the Netherlands. The songs' lyrics were inspired by or culled from video and commentary the pair found on YouTube. “We came up with this premise of boring videos, home videos," Teitur explains. "It was a time when everyone was posting these meaningless videos. It was just fascinating when we started watching them... The more you watched them the more you started to wonder, 'What is behind this? Why are people doing this?' They are really saying, 'This is really beautiful, this is really sick, this is me,' people confessing things. And that gave us the title for the record.”
