+Bonnie "Prince" Billy - Lie Down In The Light CD/LP (Drag City)
Wow, out of nowhere -- a brand new Bonnie "Prince" Billy album! Coloring the sound of Lie Down In The Light is a subtle backdrop of percussive slaps and shakes (but nary a drum kit), touches of keys and pedal steel, harmonious vocal arrangements and other sweet surprises that might send some sad-sack fans back to their auto-erotic dungeons, fresh toys in hand.

scarlettA240_
+Scarlett Johansson (Tom Waits) - Anywhere I Lay My Head CD (Rhino)
Debut album from the actress features her inspired vocal interpretations of ten Tom Waits songs plus one original track. Produced by David Andrew Sitek from TV On The Radio, the album also spotlights the vocals of David Bowie on two songs as well as the guitar work of Nick Zinner (Yeah Yeah Yeahs). CD now, vinyl due June 24. "A graceful work of unparalleled beauty. Oh yeah, and she sings, too." -- Hieronymus Doosch

orchestra_
+Orchestra Baobab - Made In Dakar CD (Nonesuch)
Already a huge hit in England, this album includes contemporary re-workings of the Senegalese collective's classic '70s work alongside first-rate new material. "...masters of an urban style that pairs rippling, fast-flowing guitar lines with impassioned vocals and sophisticated dance rhythms." -- The Guardian (UK)

dcfc
+Death Cab For Cutie - Narrow Stairs CD (Atlantic)
New album from Ben Gibbard & Co. "...largely paints itself as the darker, mysterious cousin to 2005's Plans album -- raw rather than polished, heartbroken rather than optimistic, enigmatic rather than energetic." -- All Music Guide

black_angels
+The Black Angels - Directions To See A Ghost CD (Light In The Attic)
The second full-length album from Austin's darkest drone-rockers. With tidal rhythms and rasping epics, Directions To See A Ghost is a driving, psychedelic masterpiece. Available for audition in one of our listening stations. CD now, vinyl TBA.

t-bone
+T Bone Burnett - Tooth Of Crime CD (Nonesuch)
Recorded immediately after his production work on the Robert Plant/Allison Krauss collaboration Raising Sand, this album can be seen as an extension of those sessions, featuring many of the same musicians.

quiet village
+Quiet Village - Silent Movie CD (K7)
Comprised of master crate-digger Joel Martin and rising dance-music star Matt Edwards (aka Radio Slave--one of lunatron's faves), Quiet Village make the old sound new and vice versa. Influenced by Italian film soundtracks, BBC library music, disco edits, acid rock, vintage soul and easy listening, they combine the most unlikely elements: bluesy guitar, chamber strings, air-raid sirens, shuffling breakbeats -- even flutes and seagull cries -- into an hour-long reverie with in soft focus.

lastshad
+The Last Shadow Puppets (Arctic Monkeys) - The Age Of The Understatement CD (Domino)
The Last Shadow Puppets are Arctic Monkeys' lead vocalist/guitarist Alex Turner and The (UK) Rascals' guitarist/vocalist Miles Kane. Inspired by Scott Walker, early Bowie and David Axelrod, the album's backing orchestration was recorded by the 22-piece London Metropolitan Orchestra. CD now, vinyl later this week. File under: Arctic Monkeys.

noage
+No Age - Nouns CD (Sub Pop)
The Sub Pop debut by this L.A. duo opens with a symphony of distortion and sometimes creeps, sometimes smashes through a sonic headlock befitting Daydream Nation-era Sonic Youth, My Bloody Valentine and experimental noise. CD now, vinyl later this week.

nortec
+Nortec Collective Presents: Bostitch + Fussible - Tijuana Sound Machine CD (Nacional)
A mix of sly street sounds, hip rhythms, heavy funk with Mexican instrumentation.

elbow_
+Elbow - The Seldom Seen Kid CD (Geffen)
Latest from the Mancunian five-piece mines a rare vein -- intelligent, progressive pop music. Recommended.

flightL._SL500_AA240_
+Flight Of The Conchords - Flight Of The Conchords CD/LP+MP3 (Sub Pop)
If amazing, delightful, and hilarious is your idea of funny, then prepare for undisappointment. These fifteen songs pay homage to Pet Shop Boys, censorship, Marvin Gaye, sexism, Shabba Ranks, and backhanded compliments. Free 2x3-foot poster with purchase (while supplies last).

+Mark Kozelek - Nights Of Passed Over AUTOGRAPHED BOOK+CD (Caldo Verde)

Mr. Kozelek was kind enough to sort us out on a handful of his beautiful new book, 'Nights Of Passed Over.' Rife with lyrics, set lists, guitar tunings, and a discography--this hardback, super-limited edition tome (only 2500 were produced) also comes with a 12-song CD of
unreleased material entitled; 'Nights.' LUNA is the only retail outlet with this set. Furthermore, we are the only folks with AUTOGRAPHED copies. Wow! Please email mr. lunatron, to check availability, as they are going out the door quite quickly...if you are interested in purchasing a non-autographed copy, visit the Caldo Verde site! Thanks again, M...

+M83 - Saturdays=Youth CD (Mute)
For M83's chief stargazer Anthony Gonzalez, his youth is something he looks back upon with affection, something that has become the defining theme of his enchanting new album. Recorded with producer/engineer Ken Thomas (Psychic TV, Sigur Ros, The Sugarcubes, Suede, Clinic, etc.) and Ewan Pearson (Tracey Thorn, The Rapture, Ladytron), Saturdays=Youth delivers the rich sonic textures for which M83 is well known -- this time with a more focused approach to song structure, form and production -- sounding like a lost electro-pop classic from 1983.

nick cave
+Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Dig!!! Lazarus Dig!!! CD (Anti)
Last seen under the gleeful guise of 2007's Grinderman, a no-nonsense rock & roll excuse to head down to the basement and shout, Nick Cave now returns to his full time Bad Seeds co-conspirators. "Grinderman was deliberately spare and the concepts were pretty simple," explains Cave. "With Dig!!! Lazarus Dig!!! we allowed ourselves to get expansive." It picks up where Grinderman left off, filled with Stooge-ified electric guitar, driving beats, and Cave's literate, seductive, and firmly tongue-in-cheek lyrics. Deluxe CD packaging includes a 55-page lyric book. Available for audition in one of our listening stations. Vinyl bumped until June.

foals
+Foals - Antidotes CD/LP+7"+MP3 (Sub Pop)
Debut from Oxford, England's five-piece dance-rock band -- completing the circuit between the minimalism of American composer Steve Reich and guitars that sound like insects. Driving percussion high in the mix, guitars played above the twelfth fret, no chords, and splashes of synth color all come together like the schematics for a piece of precision engineering. Includes two bonus tracks exclusive to the US release. The vinyl adds a 7" 45 and an MP3 download.

fleetfoxes
+Fleet Foxes - Giant Sun CDEP (Sub Pop)
Seattle's Fleet Foxes make such complex, harmonic, '70s-inspired folk-rock -- it's hard to believe that the band's principle songwriter is only 21-years-old. Giant Sun is a precursor to the band's debut, Ragged Wood, out in June.

jim noir
+Jim Noir - Jim Noir CD (Barsuk)
Jim's eponymous second album is one of the most expansive pop records you'll hear this year. His music has always been a melange of different styles and influences, and this album sees him delving more into his electronic side and going further with melody and vocals than before. "Noir's elaborately multi-tracked recordings make his gentle bitching irresistible. He writes killer songs." -- Blender

20 MAY 08!
+Mudhoney - The Lucky Ones CD/LP+MP3 (Sub Pop)
Worldwide lovers of the finer things are rejoicing at the news that Mudhoney, yep Mudhoney, is back in action this week with The Lucky Ones, the band's eighth full album in a mere 20 years of triumphant rocking. Deliberately and aggressively raw, the album was intentionally written "from the rhythm up" instead of from the riff and the lyrics down. The effect is to thrust out the bottom-end rumble of drummer Dan Peters and bassist Guy Maddison, and to bring about a cohesive whole not entirely ruled by the almighty riff -- although you certainly don't have to look hard to find 'em. Vinyl includes an MP3 download card. (And check out the deluxe reissue of Superfuzz Bigmuff down in the reissue zone.)
+Flobots - Flight With Tools CD (Universal Republic)
Socially conscious progressive hip-hop/rock group from Denver. Armed with musicianship, intelligence, and an ingrained sense of rebellion, Flobots are looking to engage a new musical culture, one mind at a time. Includes the huge alt-radio hit "Handlebars." Initial copies come with a free picture sleeve 7" 45 of "Handlebars." CD now, vinyl due next week.
+Foxboro Hot Tubs (Green Day) - Stop Drop And Roll!!! CD (Jingle Town/WB)
Imagine a big-time punk-pop trio from the Oakland area deciding, for fun, to record a cool song that reminded them of '60s garage rock -- adventurous, reckless, and edgy but with a "doo-doo-doo" party sound. Imagine the lovechild of an unholy marriage between The Stooges and Tommy James And The Shondells. Imagine the track, "Mother Mary," leaking out and amazingly going Top 20 Modern Rock. Imagine the mysterious "new" band then deciding to release an EP for free on the internet. Now imagine a full-length album -- an actual album you can hold in your hands, just like way back before the dawn of the new millennium! Imagine Foxboro Hot Tubs and the album Stop Drop And Roll. File under: Green Day. CD now, vinyl due June 24.
+The Wedding Present - El Rey CD (Manifesto)
First new album in over three years was written by David Gedge while living in Los Angeles, resulting in a gritty UK take on the land of sun and surf. The release also marks a reunion with Steve Albini, their first album together since 1991's Seamonsters.
+Mates Of State - Re-arrange Us CD (Barsuk)
On Re-arrange Us, the duo move beyond their trademark wall of sound with additional instrumentation, including lush strings, guitars and horns to back up their already honed melodic songwriting. CD now, vinyl due June 17.
+The Dresden Dolls - No, Virginia CD (Roadrunner)
No, Virginia is a collection of songs recorded during the Yes, Virginia sessions deemed too good for B-side status (including a cover of The Psychedelic Furs' classic "Pretty In Pink") mixed with new songs written during the winter of 2008.
+Free Kitten (Sonic Youth) - Inherit CD (Ecstatic Peace)
Kim Gordon (Sonic Youth), Julie Cafritz (Pussy Galore) and Yoshimi (Boredoms) return after an eleven-year hiatus with their fourth album. File under: Sonic Youth
+Joan Of Arc - Boo Human CD/LP+MP3 (Polyvinyl)
Tim Kinsella left the studio door open to a variety of backing musicians (including Wilco's Leroy Bach, Bonnie "Prince" Billy regular Emmett Kelly, and Town And Country's Josh Abrams and Ben Vida) yielding a truly diverse record that is as intense as it is intimate. Vinyl includes an MP3 download card.
+Mason Jennings - In The Ever CD/LP+MP3 (Brushfire)
Sixth album from the American singer/songwriter and his first release on Jack Johnson's Brushfire Records label. Mason Jennings is one of the best-kept secrets in pop music. He was hand-picked by music supervisor Randall Poster to perform two Dylan songs in Todd Haynes' acclaimed I'm Not There, both on the soundtrack album, and lip-synched by Christian Bale in the movie. For this album Jennings retreated to a studio in the woods, where he set himself up with a laptop and two microphones. In The Ever continues Jennings' spiritual journey, informed by his love of influences like Leadbelly, Mississippi John Hurt, Hank Williams, Johnny Cash's American Recordings and Led Zeppelin (his favorite band of all time). The vinyl includes an MP3 download of the entire album. Initial quantities of either format include a bonus two-track CD featuring the non-album tracks "How Deep Is That River (Cabin Version)" and "Morning Train."
+Vetiver - A Thing Of The Past CD (Gnomonsong)
A collection of covers originally recorded by some of Vetiver leader Andy Cabic's favorite artists. Most date from the late '60s/early '70s, from the likes of Loudon Wainwright, Townes Van Zandt, Ronnie Lane and Hawkwind. Guests include Michael Hurley (they cover the Greenwich Village folkie's "Blue Driver") and Vashti Bunyan. CD now, vinyl due June 10.
+French Kicks - Swimming CD (Vagrant)
NYC hipsters stray further from their neo-punk roots, into an airier realm of '60s folk and '70s AM soul. Produced and recorded by the band themselves.
+Islands - Arm's Way CD (Anti)
Montreal's Islands flower from the same scene that gave us Arcade Fire and Wolf Parade. Their Anti debut finds them in full command of a palette of classic pop colorings, from the '70s rock heroics of "The Arm" to the slinky cinematic pop of "I Feel Evil Creeping In."
+Russian Circles - Station CD (Suicide Squeeze)
Metal trimmings, minimal jazz primers, and cryptic riffs that hit out of nowhere with the pummeling impact of a comet. Their lumbering layers of chiseled post rock and feathery psychedelic infusions have enticed listeners into mental orgasms the world over.
+Stove Bredsky (Cave In) - The Black Ribbon Award CD (Hydra Head)
Cave In vocalist/guitarist Stephen Brodsky's (AKA Stove Bredsky, Stovetop Bredsky, Steev Bawdski, Steve Brodsky, Stewie Griffin, Stinky Wizzleteats) third full-length solo album. File under: Cave In.
+Windsor For The Derby - How We Lost CD/LP+MP3 (Secretly Canadian)
Their seventh album is a reflection on the records that WFTD consistently revisit for inspiration: Swell Maps, Section 25, Psychic TV, and much of the Factory Records catalog. Vinyl includes an MP3 download card.
+Blackstrap - Steal My Horses And Run CD/LP+MP3 (Tee Pee)
Stockholm, Sweden's Blackstrap play blissful rock & roll drenched in fuzzed-out guitars. Steal My Horses And Run conjures up atmospherics that are equal parts Spiritualized, Primal Scream and The Jesus & Mary Chain. Vinyl includes an MP3 download card.
+Veda Hille - This Riot Life CD (Ape House)
Third full-length from the Vancouver songwriter was recorded by Colin Stewart (Black Mountain, Destroyer) with a twelve-piece band and guest vocalists. A gigantic sounding aural collage of religious intensity. Released on Andy "XTC" Partridge's Ape House label.
+The California Guitar Trio - Echoes CD (Inner Knot)
A playful release -- artists covered range from Beethoven to Queen to Lynyrd Skynyrd -- featuring numerous guests, including Bonnie "Prince" Billy and bassist Tony Levin. Particularly nice is their take on Mike Oldfield's "Tubular Bells."
+Love Psychedelico - This Is Love Psychedelico CD (Hacktone)
The first album from this Japanese duo to be released outside of Asia. Kumi (vocals) and Naoki (guitar), two obsessives of the British Invasion and '70s classic rock, formed Delico (as they're affectionately called by leagues of fanatics) in Tokyo 1997. With an ear for big hooks and even bigger guitar, the duo digested and reconfigured their influences with equal nods to the dancefloor, the mod squad, and Laurel Canyon. The result is futuristic rock & roll swagger with a big heart, not unlike Sheryl Crow making babies with Noel Gallagher to the throbbing flicker of Technicolor strobes.
+King's X - XV CD (Inside Out)
Another solid album from these underrated purveyors of groove rock.
+Eric Hutchinson - Sounds Like This CD (Let's Break/WB)
Eric Hutchinson is a soulful singer/songwriter with influences reminiscent of Stevie Wonder, Billy Joel, Ben Folds, Jack Johnson, John Mayer and Paul Simon.
+Osaka Popstar - Rock'Em O-Sock'Em Live! CD (Misfits)
Budget-priced live collection from the anime punk band whose members include Dez Cadena (Black Flag), Ivan Julian (The Voidoids), Jerry Only (Misfits) and Marky Ramone (The Ramones, duh). Includes an official Topps Garbage Pail Kids trading card.
+Giant Panda - Electric Laser CD (TRES)
L.A.-based hip-hop group's second album is fresh and innovative with more of an emphasis on electro-fused samples and humorous yet personal lyrics.
+Okay - Huggable Dust CD (Absolutely Kosher)
On Huggable dust, dense layers of technological and organic sounds fizzle under gentle, multi-layered, baroque melodies. The lyrics are meditative and repetitive -- a bit like mantras -- deceptively simple, but like the music, prone to change when you're not looking.
+Sybris - Into The Trees CD (Absolutely Kosher)
Chicago's Sybris is a quartet of powerful grace propelled by singer Angela Mullenhour's sugarcoated, knife-edge voice brimming with shattering potential and weighted with its own world-weariness -- elegant, bruised, but never defeated.
+Annihilation Time - Tales Of The Ancient Age CD (Tee Pee)
Annihilation Time's third full-length is an ideal mix of '70s rock and '80s hardcore -- a ten-track mind-riot laced with neck breaking rhythms, obscene twin guitar leads and angst-driven vocals. CD now, vinyl due June 3.
+El Madmo - El Madmo CD (Team Love)
Theirs is a powerfully raw sound and this record is a solid piece of body rocking ear-munition revealing a musical labyrinth that challenges you to choose your own adventure.
+King Darves - The Sun Splits For The Blind Swimmer CD (De Stijl)
The bedrock of King Darves' latest concoction is folk-based, but he's not wearing a headband or singing of pixies in the moss. This release will shock and please when the prettiest sound of his deep, rich voice comes out of the headphones, and it'll make you tap your toes and nod your head like a little girl.
+Jeremy Jay - A Place Where We Could Go CD/LP (K)
This ten-song debut is your hard copy of the elusive, blonde, Jeremy Jay moon-roof vista. "His echoey, foreboding baritone and dubby spaciousness recall homemade English singles from more than two decades ago." -- Pitchfork
+The Explorers Club - Freedom Wind CD/LP+MP3 (Dead Oceans)
The Beach Boys are the obvious touchstone for this young band, but dig a bit deeper and you'll hear flourishes of Paul McCartney, The Byrds, Emitt Rhodes, ELO, and doo-wop. Vinyl includes an MP3 download card.
+Indian Jewelry - Free Gold! CD (We Are Free)
Their first full-length in almost two years is their most scathing. Dirty hooks, shape shifting grooves, and a lot of attitude.
+Eric Cheneaux - Sloppy Ground CD/LP (Constellation)
A collection of beautiful love songs -- both highly original and utterly compelling in lyrical content and delivery.
+Bad Dudes - Eat Drugs CD (Retard Disco)
Crazy, spazzed-out "party prog" from deep within the same notorious Los Angeles scene that's given us No Age and the Mae Shi. Seriously and insanely fun.
+DiskJokke - Staying In CD (Smalltown Supersound)
This is the sound of Norwegian disco limits. "Bright, playful, spacey, and colorful, music for the nighttime that retains the warmth of an afternoon on the beach." [8.0] -- Pitchfork
+Tetine - Let Your X's Be Y's CD (Soul Jazz)
While they may appear to be the most recent addition to the growing Brazilian post-punk/baile funk circle that includes the groups CSS and Bonde Do Role, Tetine has been in existence the longest and are infamous in the Sao Paulo scene. Includes a CSS remix.
+Douglas Armour - The Light Of The Golden Day, The Arms Of The Night CD (The Social Registry)
L.A.-based Douglas Armour creates songs that are equal parts nostalgia and forward thinking. Echoing its title, the LP has a structure that plays off binary oppositions. This is thinking man's pop music.
+Tetuzi Akiyama - The Ancient Battle To Control Death CD (Western Vinyl)
A collection of unique and tense Japanese blues that could only have come from one of Japan's most distinct and creative improvisers.
+Marc Almond/Michael Cashmore - Gabriel & The Lunatic Lover CD (Durtro Jnana)
The first in a new series of collaborations on Durtro Jnana. The duo sets to music two poems by Count Eric Stenbock, the extraordinary 19th-century gay writer whose bizarre life of decadence, drug addiction, alcoholism and poetry -- coupled with Satanic, vampiric and Catholic obsessions -- led to his early death at the age of 36 in 1895. The CD is housed in a beautiful full-color digipak that contains previously unpublished paintings of Almond by Russian artist Vania Soutavliov, a rare photograph of the enigmatic Count, and the complete texts to both poems. File under: Michael Cashmore.
+Ascend - Ample Fire Within CD (Southern Lord)
A new collaboration between Gentry Densley (Iceburn, Eagle Twin) and Greg Anderson (Sunn O))), Goatsnake, Engine Kid).
+DJ Spooky - Sound Unbound CD (Sub Rosa)
Subtitled: Excerpts & Allegories From The Sub Rosa Audio Archives. "The set mixes recordings from Sub Rosa's vast audio archives -- from the likes of Gertrude Stein, James Joyce, William S. Burroughs, Marcel Duchamp, Allen Ginsberg, Jean Cocteau, and others -- with avant-garde jazz, compositional music and electronica courtesy of everyone from Aphex Twin to Steve Reich to Sun Ra." -- Pitchfork
+Lau Nau - Nukkuu CD (Locust)
The long-awaited sophomore album by the celebrated Finnish femme folk fave. Psychedelic, abstract and emotionally captivating, Nukkuu is an intimately crafted nine-song collection that unfolds like dreamlike musical ribbons for the senses and delivers the listener to a place of unhurried contentedness.

+Gussie Clarke - Presents Dread At The Controls Dub CD/LP (Auralux)
Not to be confused with Mikey Dread, these uncredited late '70s dub tracks are deep and heavy, not unlike the work of Lee "Scratch" Perry. The original instrumentation is by the Revolutionaries, Sly & Robbie's pre-Taxi Records band.
+Scientist - World At War CD/LP (Auralux)
A virtual wizard of the mixing desk, Scientist has been one of the key figures in dub since the late 1970s. Here he takes Studio One tracks from Jimmy Riley's Put The People First album and transforms them in an apocalyptic fashion.

Hotel Music is a musical portrait by Michael Leonhart, session player to the stars -- written and recorded over the course of a five-month stint playing horns with Steely Dan. First new album in four years. Limited edition includes a DVD documentary with five live-in-the-studio performances.
+Duffy - Rockferry CD/LP (Mercury)
Akin to Amy Winehouse, Wales-born Duffy hearkens back to '60s soul and pop for her sound with a particular affection for Dusty Springfield. Good stuff. Initial copies come with a bonus 7" 45.
+Jason Mraz - We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things CD/2xLP (Atlantic)

features of the month...
luna_may_ftb
This month we highlight five new releases, visit us at any location to sample these fantastic new releases.

+++Tokyo Police Club - Elephant Shell
Following one of the most well-received 16 minutes of music in recent history—, 2006's 'A Lesson In Crime EP,' —Newmarket, Ontario's Tokyo Police Club offer their first full-length; 'Elephant Shell.' 'Elephant Shell' is the sound of these four early-20-somethings, now seasoned by hundreds of shows from tiny clubs to the festival throngs at Coachella and Glastonbury, delivering on every bit of promise in their rapid-fire barrage of material to date. 'Elephant Shell' encapsulates everything great about the manic TPC live experience; —soaring guitar signatures and keyboard figures, driving backbeats and irresistible singalongs—and finds our young protagonists ably adapting their energy into more subdued structures before the record comes to an all-too-early halt.”

+++A.A. Bondy - American Hearts
After his former band, Verbena, scored a deal with Capitol Records and put out two releases, Scott Bondy (aka: A.A. Bondy) decided to call it quits and pursue a solo career. 'American Hearts' was recorded at a barn in upstate NY but it is not hard to recognize Bondy's influence from his home state of Alabama. The album managed to land in the hands of several critics who welcomed it with praise garnishing him an appearance on NPR and Late Night with Conan O'Brien. Now signed with Fat Possum Records and re-releasing this solo/debut A.A. Bondy will be touring throughout 2008 promoting 'American Hearts' and opening it to a wider audience.”

+++Hayden - In Field & Town
Picked up in the 90s by Geffen offshoot, Outpost Recordings, Hayden was brought into the spotlight with his MTV hit "Bas As They Seem." Staying busy with touring and a slew of singles, EPs, and a popular cut on the 'Trees Lounge' movie soundtrack, Hayden managed to build a cult-like status among his fans throughout the rest of the decade.  When Outpost Recordings collapsed, Hayden quietly disappeared into the studio and years later released 'Skyscraper National Park' and 'Elk-Lake Serenade.'  His critically acclaimed, fifth full-length studio album, 'In Field & Town,' will be released in America on April 29, 2008.  It was recorded and produced by Hayden in his home studios in Ontario, Canada, and has been continuously heralded as the album of his career since its Canadian release in January on his own Hardwood Records.”

+++Jamie Lidell - Jim
Recorded in Berlin, Los Angeles and Paris, 'Jim' takes even further what was started with 'Multiply,' finding the balance between the spontaneous
creativity of his raw ideas and the careful craft and polish of a great record. 'Jim' will switch you on in the morning, move you on the dance-floor and take you down in the small hours. It's a bold, promiscuously diverse album, mixing up gospel grooves, sweetly sung and fiercely passionate soul, delicately moving ballads, thumping early R&B, synthed-up disco, and even a touch of 'hillbilly funk'.  "I haven't tried to hide the influences," says Jamie Lidell. "This is the music I love." But, listen closely and you can hear Jamie moving in new directions, creating a sound and style that is entirely his own.”

+++The Kooks - Konk
The Kooks are back with their eagerly anticipated sophomore album 'Konk.' This is the stunning follow up to the hugely successful 'Inside In / Inside Out,' their breakout debut. Spawning massive singles including the hits "She Moves In Her Own Way" and "Naïve", The Kooks built a solid and credible fanbase in the US and quickly came to be regarded as a classic song-writing outfit, simply because they understand what makes pop music great. 'Konk' demonstrates how they have upped their game with this collection of dynamic new songs. Produced by Tony Hoffer ('Inside In/Inside Out,' Dave Gahan, Supergrass, Beck), "Always Where I Need To Be" is a tumbling rocker while "Sway" is an epic, sweeping vignette. Other highlights include "Gap", "Do You Wanna" and "Shine On" exploring unchartered lyrical territory over the loveliest of melodies.”
